GCSE Fieldtrips

As part of the GCSE course and the current specification, students are required to complete a Controlled Assessment in Geography; this year the title asked students to, “Investigate how and why land use has changed along a transect from part of your CBD to the outskirts of the urban area.” To complete this our GCSE students undertook a field day visit to the City of St. Alban’s where they carefully tracked subtle changes in land use, types of buildings, open space and the age of buildings as we worked our way out of St. Alban’s at 5 pre-selected sites along the same road. Students successfully completed their controlled assessment using this data collection.
