Student Testimonials

We heard from our Alumni students how MedSoc has supported their applications:

Name: Sherryn

Degree course: Medicine

Current University and Year:
University of Nottingham, 4th year

How Medsoc helped me: Medsoc organised regular workshops and talks which I found incredibly helpful for my medical school application. This included personal statement workshops, UCAT (admission test) and interview preparation / mocks and receiving talks from current medical students and doctors. The Medsoc staff showed me continuous support and were always happy to help with my application.

Top tips to aspiring Medsoc students: Try and get as much work experience as you possibly can – not just as a tick box for your application but also to see whether you can truly vision yourself working in the profession. A-Levels are tricky, especially year 13! Try and write your personal statement and do the UCAT before you start year 13 so you can put all your focus on your studies when you return from the summer break. Attend all the organised Medsoc events – everything was super useful! Wishing you the best of luck!

Name: Maryam

Degree course: Dentistry

Current University and year: Queen Mary University, 1st year

How Medsoc helped me: Medsoc gave me the opportunity to present topics in Dentistry which I was passionate about and learn about HOT topics from fellow students (which I was able to discuss in interviews) . It also enabled me to network and meet people in the dental field who gave me amazing advice on UCAT and interviews! Mrs Shah also runs a mock interview course with MMI and panel style questions which prepared me.

•During work experience talk to many doctors/dentists and ask questions to find out if a career in this field is truly for you

- Be confident in your interviews even if you don't feel it - have faith in yourselves, you got this far in the application process for a reason!!

- Ask lots of questions at university open days to the medical/dental students on campus as they can give you a valuable insight into how the course is run and what it will entail, should you decide to attend there.
