Q: Do Internal Ashmole Academy Year 11 students transfer automatically to Sixth Form?

A: No. Year 11 students, currently on roll at the Academy must submit an Internal Sixth Form Application by 29th January 2021.

 

Q: Is it possible for External Year 11 students to apply to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form?

A: Yes. the Academy accepts Post 16 applications from external candidates.

 

Q: How do you submit an application to the Sixth Form for Ashmole Academy?

Post 16 applications must be made ‘on-line’ by Internal and External applicants through the Sixth Form pages of the school website Ashmole Academy/Sixth Form/Join Us by

Friday 29th January 2021.

 

Q: Is there an academic criteria for entry to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form?

Yes.  The criteria for application to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form is based on minimum predicted GCSE grades.  The GCSE grade criteria is outlined on pages 6 -7 of the Sixth Form Prospectus and set out in the Ashmole Academy Admission Policy 2021.

 

Q: The application form will only let me choose 3 A-level subjects but I would like to study a 4th A-level subject – how can I request this?

Requests to study a 4th A-level choice can be discussed at interview in August, if the applicant pursues enrolment to Ashmole Academy.  Please indicate this request in the Education section of the on-line application form. 

 

Q: I am an external student, can I choose BTEC Business?

No. The BTEC Extended National Diploma Programme is restricted to Year 11 students of Ashmole Academy. From 2021 Business will also be available as an A-level course choice, please check the school Prospectus for the GCSE grade criteria. 

 

Q: How do I provide my predicted GCSE grades?

External students need to submit GCSE grade predictions on their application form within the section entitled ‘Education’.  Ashmole Academy will verify your predicted GCSE grades by requesting a Reference from the applicant’s current school.

 

Q: I completed the online application - how do I know my application has been received?

Once your application form is submitted back to the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt of your application will be sent to the email address used for registration.

You can also check the status of your application through your on-line application account

 

Q: Will Ashmole Academy chase my school for my academic reference?

A: No.  It is the responsibility of the student or parent to ensure the academic reference is completed by the current school of the applicant.  Once the reference is received by the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt will be sent to the applicant and parent. 

The status of the application can be checked via the on-line account.

 

Q: I missed the closing date for Sixth Form application, can I still apply?

Yes.  Ashmole Academy will accept late applications for a short time after the January closing date and potentially again on Enrolment Day.  Late applications will not be considered until after those received on or before the closing date.

 

 

Q: My application is complete but I would like to change my A-level subject choices.

A: First you need to check if you will potentially meet the minimum grade criteria for the subject you wish to change to. If you obtain the minimum grade criteria for the subject you wish to change to, you can change subject at Enrolment when you are asked to re-confirm your subject choices.

 

Q: When will a response to the application be sent?

A: You will receive a response to your application in March 2021 by email.

 

Can I request a prospectus from the school?

Yes, you can request a prospectus by emailing virtualevents@ashmoleacademy.org.
