Q: Do Internal Year 11 Ashmole Academy students transfer automatically to Sixth Form?
A: No. Year 11 students, currently on roll at the Academy must submit an Internal Sixth Form Application by the closing date of Friday 9th February 2024.

Q: Is there a minimum entry criteria for entry to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form?
Yes. The GCSE entry criteria is outlined on Page 6 - 7 of the Sixth Form Prospectus and set out in the Ashmole Academy Admission Policy 2024.  Application is based on minimum predicted GCSE grades and subsequent final GCSE grades in August 2024.

Q: How do I provide my predicted GCSE grades?
External students are required to input their GCSE grade predictions on their online application form within the section of the form entitled ‘Education’.  Ashmole Academy will reference your listed predicted GCSE grades automatically to your referee with a request that the referee verifies the grades provided at the time of application. You will be informed with an automated email when the referee has returned the reference of predicted grades to Ashmole Academy.

Q: The application form will only let me choose 3 A-level subjects, but I would like to study a 4th A-level subject - how can I request this?
Requests to study a 4th A-level can be discussed in August 2024 if you choose to pursue any conditional offer of a place to study at the Academy.

Q: I completed the online application form - how do I know my application has been received?
Once your application form is submitted back to the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt of your application form will be sent to the email address used for registration.  Any future communication will also be copied to the parent/carer contacts indicated.

You can also check the status of your application through your profile page on the on-line application account which updates automatically.

Q: Will Ashmole Academy chase my school for my academic reference?
A: No.  It is the responsibility of the student or parent to ensure the academic reference is completed by the current school of the candidate.  Once the reference is received by the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt will be sent to the applicant and parent.

The status of the application can be checked via the on-line account.

Q: I missed the closing date for Sixth Form application. Can I still apply?
If you registered before the closing date of February 9th 2024, Ashmole Academy will still accept late applications for a ‘short time’ after the closing date.  Ashmole Academy may potentially receive applications again in August on Enrolment Day if the school is not oversubscribed with candidates who previously applied are in receipt of a conditional offer. Late applications will not be considered until after those received on or before the closing date.

Q: My application is complete, but I would like to change my A-level subject choices.
A: First you need to check if you will potentially meet the minimum grade criteria for the subject you wish to change to. Subject changes will be received by email only for a short time after you have received a response to your application in the spring term.

Q: When will a response to the application be received?
You will receive a ‘response letter’ by email before or by March 2024.

Q: Can I request a prospectus from the school?
The Sixth Form Prospectus 2024 is available on the Sixth Form pages of the school website alongside the Post 16 Subject Information Booklet 2024.  A paper copy of the prospectus will be made available at the Sixth Form Open Evening.
