Q: Do Internal Year 11 Ashmole Academy students transfer automatically to Sixth Form?
A: No. Year 11 students, currently on roll at the Academy must submit an Internal Sixth Form Application by Friday 28th January 2022. The minimum entry criteria for internal and external students is set out in the Ashmole Academy Sixth Form Policy 2022 and the Sixth Form Prospectus.
Q: Is it possible for External Year 11 students to apply to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form?
A: Yes. the Academy accepts applications from external candidates, currently in Year 11 at another school.
Q: How do you submit an application to the Sixth Form for Ashmole Academy?
Application must be made ‘on-line’ by Internal and External applicants through the Sixth Form pages of the school website Ashmole Academy/Sixth Form/Join Us by

Q: Is there a minimum criteria for entry to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form?
Yes. The criteria for application to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form is based on minimum predicted GCSE grades and subsequent final GCSE grades in August. The GCSE entry criteria is outlined on Page 6 -7 of the Sixth Form Prospectus and set out in the Ashmole Academy Admission Policy 2022.
Q: The application form will only let me choose 3 A-level subjects but I would like to study a 4th A-level subject – how can I request this?
Requests to study a 4th A-level can be discussed at interview with a member of the leadership team in August 2022, if a candidate decides to pursue enrolment to Ashmole Academy.
Q: I am an external student, can I choose BTEC Business?
No. The BTEC Extended National Diploma Programme is restricted to Year 11 students currently on roll at Ashmole Academy. Business Study is available as an A-level course - please refer to page 7 of the Sixth Form Prospectus for the GCSE entry criteria or the Sixth Form Admission Policy 2022.
Q: How do I provide my predicted GCSE grades?
External students are required to input their GCSE grade predictions on their on-line application form within the section of the form entitled ‘Education’. Ashmole Academy will verify your predicted GCSE grades by requesting an academic reference from the named referee at your school, indicated on your application form. You will be informed when the reference has been returned to Ashmole Academy.
Q: I completed the online application form - how do I know my application has been received?
Once your application form is submitted back to the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt of your application will be sent to the email address used for registration.
You can also check the status of your application through your on-line application account.
Q: Will Ashmole Academy chase my school for my academic reference?
A: No. It is the responsibility of the student or parent to ensure the academic reference is completed by the current school of the candidate. Once the reference is received by the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt will be sent to the applicant and parent.

Q: I missed the closing date for Sixth Form application, can I still apply?
Yes. Ashmole Academy will accept late applications for a short time after the January closing date and potentially again on Enrolment Day if there are available places. Late applications will not be considered until after those received on or before the closing date.
Q: My application is complete but I would like to change my A-level subject choices.
A: First you need to check if you will potentially meet the minimum grade criteria for the subject you wish to change to. Subject changes will be received by email only for a short time after you have received a response to your application.
Q: When is a response to the application sent?
You will receive a response letter by email before or by March 2022.
Can I request a prospectus from the school?
The Sixth Form Prospectus 2022 will be available on the school website alongside the Post 16 Subject Information Booklet on or before 4th November 2022.
