Barnet Cross Country Championships 2018

Report from Barnet Cross Country Championships

On a cold January afternoon Ashmole Academy Cross Country runners showed great spirit and resilience to secure some fantastic results in difficult underfoot conditions. Three students finished in the top seven and therefore qualified to represent Barnet at the Middlesex Cross Country Championships in Harrow at the end of January. They were Casey Doyle, Joseph Heather and Natasha Tanner.

Casey Doyle was the clear winner of his race, which he dominated from the start, finishing comfortably ahead of his opponents.  His performance was all the more remarkable since Casey is in year 10 and was competing against boys many of whom were a full year older than he, given that it was a combined year 10 and 11 race. Both Natasha Tanner and Joseph Heather ran excellent races to secure their places in the Middlesex Schools Championships. These results will hopefully lead to further success in the Cross Country season and then into the summer season when the students compete on the track.
