Physics
Curriculum
Students are taught Physics as a separate subject, from Year 9.
In Year 11 students will be entered either for the Combined Science course (AQA) or Separate Sciences (AQA).
Students can choose Physics A-Level (AQA) as an option in Year 12.
The Physics Curriculum at Ashmole Academy is underpinned by five subject specific curriculum pillars:
-
Pillar 1: Develop knowledge and application of physical laws and relate them to the wider world.
-
Pillar 2: Recognise how scientific laws, models and theories develop over time and the implications of this.
-
Pillar 3: Manipulate key apparatus safely and skilfully, and record accurate data.
-
Pillar 4: Think critically to interpret, analyse and evaluate scientific data to draw valid conclusions.
-
Pillar 5: Explain, challenge and justify key ideas both verbally and in written form.
These pillars make explicit the purpose of studying Physics, including the knowledge and skills that are developed over time.
