Year 13 Trip to Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge

Having the opportunity to visit Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge presented a platform to excel in the interview process.  We began the day with some advice regarding interviews, followed by a tour of the college.  This was an invaluable chance to understand how the admissions process would pan out. Following a lunch break, we discussed a variety of interview questions, debating our ideas.  This experience enhanced our group discussions and accentuated our critical thinking skills.

Meeting ex-Ashmole students who are currently Cambridge undergraduates, allowed us to gain a valuable insight into life at the university, workloads and the admissions process.  For me, I was able to comprehend the admissions tests, how to best tackle interview practice and was shown the type of content and work that my degree presents.  We ended the session with a Q+A, which alleviated many concerns we had and eradicated some of the typical stigmas surrounding Oxbridge, as well as providing useful tips and advice.

Overall, alongside the extra assistance from the Ashmole’s Oxbridge Programme, this experience has proved an extremely useful asset in helping many of us apply to Cambridge.
