NEU Strike Action Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July

Re: NEU Strike Action – Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July 2023

As you might already be aware the NEU have announced two further dates of strike action on 5 th & 7 th July 2023.

As there are a number of staff members in the NEU we will not be able to open to all pupils on those days. We have therefore decided the following:

  • Wednesday 5th July will be sports day for Years 9 & 10.
  • Friday 7th July will be sports day for Years 7 & 8.

Therefore, the school will not be open to Years 7 & 8 on 5th July or Years 9 & 10 on 7th July.

Year 12: Since Year 12 are on their work experience this will continue as normal on these two days.

Details of the two sports days will follow in a separate letter shortly.

As with the previous strike days, the school will also make provision for those students deemed “vulnerable” by the DfE’s definition and the children of key workers. Mrs McLaren, Deputy Head Teacher will write to you concerning this provision.

Work will be provided for those children working from home on these two days.

Those parents/carers of pupils who would receive a free school meal on those days but are not at school will receive a notification from Ms Brennan, CFO, regarding alternative arrangements.

I am sorry that some of you will again have to make alternative arrangements for your child. Ashmole Academy remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils and delivering high quality teaching.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation and further action.

Yours faithfully

Mr T Sullivan

Head Teacher
