Indoor Athletics Competition
On Thursday 7th November, the Year 7 and 8 girl’s athletics team went to Queen Elizabeth’s Girls’ School for the indoor athletics competition. This was the first time Ashmole had entered the competition and students were chosen after winning events for their form at the inter-form athletics competition held after school.
There was a variety of field events from standing long jump to speed bounce and many races, both short and long distance and individual and relays. The girls competed against nine other schools in Barnet and all performed incredibly well! Year 8 finished 4th, narrowly missing the bronze medals, in their year group. However, Year 7 did tremendously well and managed to come first place, winning the Year 7 competition! This now means they will go on to represent Barnet at the London Youth Games at Harrow Leisure Centre in February.
