The Year 7 Poetry Festival is an annual celebration of the fantastic work Year 7 students have been completing in English lessons whilst exploring Identity poetry. 

This year we were delighted that Year 7 also attended a workshop offered by the award-winning poet Coral Rumble.  In the workshop, students unpacked the conventions of poetry and used short, fun, interactive writing exercises to build writing confidence.

As part of the preparation for the Poetry festival Coral also worked with the students participating in the event to help develop their performance skills. 

The evening of the event offered an opportunity for students to proudly showcase their own poetry on stage to students, staff, parents and guests to help develop their confidence in public speaking and celebrate their creativity.

It was an inspiring and entertaining evening for all in attendance and we are already looking forward to next year’s event.
