Q: What subjects are available to study at Ashmole Academy Sixth Form?
A: The Sixth Form Prospectus 2026 and Subject Information Booklet lists the subjects available to study in Sixth Form (Year 12 and 13) at the Academy.
Q: Can external Year 11 students apply?
A: Yes. Application is open to Year 11 students currently at Ashmole Academy and Year 11 students on roll at other secondary schools.
Q: How do I apply on-line?
A: Applications open on Thursday 6th November 2025 via a link on the Sixth Form page of the Academy website. External applicants must register to apply through the application portal Applicaa. Current Ashmole students are pre-registered on Applicaa with their school online account and will be sent their login details.
Q: When is the Sixth Form application closing date for September 2026 entry?
A: Application to Sixth Form for 2026 entry closes on Monday 2nd February 2026.
Q: Do current Ashmole year 11 students transfer automatically into Sixth Form?
A: No. All students looking to enter Sixth Form at Ashmole Academy must apply by the closing date Monday 2nd February 2026. Conditional offers and admission for all applicants will be based on predicted and final GCSE grades.
Q: What are the entry requirements for Sixth Form?
A: The entry requirements for Sixth Form are based on GCSE grades. The minimum GCSE entry criteria is outlined in the Sixth Form Admission Policy 2026 and the Sixth Form Prospectus 2026 (pages 12–13) . Conditional offers are based on predicted GCSE grades and final offers are based on final GCSE results in August.
Q: How do external students provide predicted GCSE grades?
A: External applicants are required to enter predicted GCSE grades plus referee details in the ‘Education’ section of the online application form. The referee MUST be a senior lead at the applicant’s current school. e.g. Head of Year, Careers Officer. The referee will be sent an email to confirm or adjust the GCSE grades entered by the applicant on the application form. An automated email will be sent to the applicant once the reference of predicted GCSE grades is submitted back to Ashmole Academy. Only predicted GCSE grades are requested at application.
Q: How will I know my application was received?
A: You’ll receive an automated email confirming submission.
You can also track your application through your Applicaa student profile page.
Q: Will the Academy chase my school for my reference?
A: No. The responsibility to ensure the referee submits the predicted GCSE grade reference is with the applicant or their parent/carer.
Q: How can I request to study four A-levels?
A: The Ashmole application form will only allow you to choose a minimum and maximum of 3 A-levels. If you have a request to study a 4th A-level, please email your request to sixthformadmissions@ashmoleacademy.org. The Academy will acknowledge your request, however if you meet the entry criteria and choose to enrol in August 2026, you should raise your request again at your face to face enrolment meeting.
Q: Are there any important dates to be aware of?
A: Ashmole Academy will have a Taster Morning (date tbc) for students who have a conditional offer. Students who should also be available in person on:
Enrolment Day, Thursday 20th August, 2026.
Q: Can I apply after the deadline?
A: If you registered before the closing date, 2nd February 2026, late submissions may be accepted for a short period after the closing date. Application may reopen in August if spaces remain after conditional offers are processed.
Q: Can I change my A-level subject choices?
A: Once you submit your application form, you cannot edit the application form. If you have a change of subject and are still waiting for a response to application, you can email your subject change to sixthformadmissions@ashmoleacademy.org . Once the Academy have sent out a response to all application, any change to subjects will no longer be accepted via email but can be amended on your ‘enrolment form’ on Enrolment Day in August if the entry criteria is being met.
Q: When will I receive a response to my Sixth Form application?
A: Response to application will be sent during the first week of March 2026 via email.
Q: What is the oversubscription criteria for entry to Sixth Form?
A: From September 2026 onwards, if Sixth Form at Ashmole Academy is oversubscribed with applications or oversubscribed for a specific subject on Enrolment Day, places will be allocated by reference to the highest average point score across the applicant’s eight highest GCSE grades, with those with a higher average point score receiving higher priority.
