University of Law – Jaffa Cake Workshop

University of Law – Jaffa Cake Workshop

On Wednesday 26th April, selected students from Year 10 were invited to attend a law workshop based on the famous Jaffa Cake court case which ruled upon whether a Jaffa Cake is a cake or a biscuit for tax purposes.

During the workshop, we put our arguing skills into practice with a debate on the question. We split off into two teams and the debating commenced. Eventually, as in the real case, we came to the conclusion that they are in fact cakes! The guest speaker then talked to us about the different job pathways involved in law. We found the event both informative and enjoyable.
