Brilliant Club Scholars Programme 2017

In March 2017, 12 students from Years 9 & 10 were selected to take part in the Brilliant Club Scholars Programme. The Programme included a Launch Trip and 4 weekly in-school tutorials. The students were then set an assignment entitled “The Big Smoke” focussing on air pollution. These were marked by the tutor in the style of university grades and moderated by qualified teachers that assess pupils against standards one key stage above their expected level of attainment. At the end of the programme the tutor commented that all of the assignments were of an extremely high standard and she had marked them as she would undergraduate work. Furthermore she said that the majority of assignments were indeed better than work produced by some of her university students. We are proud to say that all the participating students’ assignments were graded at either a 1^st or 2:1 level.
