Lunchtime Concerts

Lunchtime concert  February 2014

As part of Ashmole Academy’s commitment to encourage our Music Students to perform, we hold an informal Lunchtime Concert in the Performing Arts Block on the first Friday of each month.

Students perform exam pieces, their own compositions, or pieces that they enjoy playing and would like to share with others. Some students perform pieces that they have been learning at Extra Curricular clubs.

These concerts are always well attended by staff and students.

‘On 7th February I went to watch the Lunchtime Concert.  When I came in, a lot of people were there and all looking excited.  The concert started with Jessica Hember.  She sang a song from ‘Frozen’ which was very moving.  She was confident and her voice was strong. A performance that caught my attention was the string trio.  I didn’t notice any mistakes bit I think that an improvement for them would be to make it less confusing because in the middle of the piece, the audience started clapping and thought that it was the end.  Apart from that I thought it was fantastic’.

Review written by one of our Year 7 Music Scholars,  as part of their Bronze Trinity Arts Award which they are studying as part of our Music Scholars’ Programme.
