Ashmole Student Elected as a Member of the Barnet Youth Parliament

For 2015 Ashmole Academy’s Terence Dobson in 9J2 was elected as a member of the Youth Parliament for his campaign to improve the public perception of young people.

The Barnet UK Youth Parliament Elections 2015 Results Evening took place on Thursday 12 March 2015 at North London Business Park.

All candidates and winners were awarded by the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Reuben Thompstone and Nicola Francis, Director of Family Services.  Up to 100 family members, friends and school staff celebrated with the candidates and everyone who campaigned was commended. 

This year there were 35 candidates aged 11- 18 who either live, work or study in Barnet. Eight of these were from Ashmole Academy. In total, an amazing 10977 young people voted. Within Barnet we had an electorate turnout of 25.4% with the total electorate comprising of 43252.

A huge well done to all the students at Ashmole who tirelessly campaigned to make a difference about something they believe to be important to the local community. As well as everyone at Ashmole who voted as these votes really helped to get one of our students elected.
